Full Itinerary
Your 5-Day Mount Meru Trek
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the city. In the evening, you will meet your mountain guide for a detailed briefing about the trek, equipment check, and preparations for your Mount Meru adventure.

After breakfast, drive to Arusha National Park and complete registration at Momella Gate. Accompanied by an armed ranger, begin your trek through open grasslands and lush forests. Along the way, you may encounter giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, and various bird species, making Mount Meru one of the few mountains in Africa where wildlife viewing is part of the trekking experience. Arrive at Miriakamba Hut in the afternoon, where you can relax and enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding forest.

Today's trail climbs steadily through beautiful montane forest before opening into heath and moorland vegetation. As you gain altitude, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Meru Crater. Upon arrival at Saddle Hut, have lunch and spend the afternoon resting or taking an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru Peak, where you can enjoy stunning sunset views.

Around midnight, begin your summit attempt under a sky filled with stars. The trail climbs steeply along the crater ridge, offering dramatic views of the surrounding landscapes. Reach Socialist Peak (4,566 m) in time for sunrise and enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Meru Crater, and the vast plains below. After celebrating your achievement and taking photographs, descend back to Saddle Hut for a short rest before continuing to Miriakamba Hut for your overnight stay.

After breakfast, begin your final descent through the beautiful forests of Arusha National Park. Enjoy the sights and sounds of the wilderness and keep an eye out for wildlife along the trail. Upon arrival at Momella Gate, receive your trekking certificate and celebrate the successful completion of your Mount Meru adventure. You will then be transferred back to Arusha for a well-deserved rest or your onward journey.
